Lab cleanup time

I've spent the last few months building stuff for a portable traffice surveillance system for rural intersections. It has been a lot of hardware work with building the equipment that goes at each sensor station, and with 18 different stations, lab space has become quite tight. Sure tools and parts are strewn all over the place at the lab, but I never have trouble finding what I need.

But today this post with pictures from the VW Phateon factory has convinced that it is probably time for a little cleanup. A full-fledged car production facility with super-clean hardwood floors... those Germans are crazy!!!

A New Year... Hopefully happy for most

Mike Tice is probably not going to be saying that after receiving the news less than an hour after the game today that he would no longer be coaching the Vikings. Now Tice probably isn't the smartest head-coaches around; most times he does have the 'duh' look on his face. But he did have a lot of heart; and no matter what, he was always there pushing the team along. He ended his coaching stint with the Vikings with almost a 500 average with a 33-34 record.

In a way, this could be a good thing for Tice as he can now start clean at some other organization (Hopefully someone will hire him). With Glenn Mason (the Minnesota Gophers head-coach) signing a 4 year contract extension for $1.65 million a year, Tice has got to feel that he deserved more than the $1million a year he was making at the Vikings.

The Vikings did end their season today with a 9 and 7 record.... Not bad after that terrible start that they had. Oh but with all the promise that the team showed before the season began, it has been a very disappointing year. Several analysts predicted their first Super-bowl victory this year.... They didn't quite get there.

But their season was probably not as disappointing as the Green Bay Packer's. Sure I'm a Viking fan and am supposed to boo the Packers every time they play, but I sure do pity them for the terrible year they have had. And I don't think Brett Favre is to blame one bit. The guy is 36 years old, but can still run around the field and throw his bullet passes. But with everybody else on his team with a torn ACL or a broken leg, who was he meant to throw to??? But maybe with him being fired, this franchise can have a fresh start as well.

The season for my fantasy football teams 'The Immortal Viking' ended today as well, with a pretty decent performance. They ended up finishing third in both leagues (One a regular fantasy football league and the other a pickem league). Not bad for a first year performance, if I might humbly say so myself. Now with some keen off-season scouting, I should be back next year ready to kick some fantasy football ass.

But with four more weeks of post-season football left, why talk about the off-season just yet. Let the games keep coming. Oh my God, I really do seem obsessed about football, don't I. I really think I am going to go into a deep depression once the season is over..... Maybe it is not going to be that happy of a new year or me. Sigh!!
