I am a graduate student at Composites Lab.  I work with Prof. Susan C Mantell in Mechanical Engineering Department. My research is focus on polymer and polymer matrix composites applications in water heating systems. Material testing and characterization of polymers are the main issues of the heat exchanger project of which Dr. Mantell and Davidson are supervisors. A material testing system has been setup for pressurized polymer tubes. In this system, the creep strain was continously monitored by the LabView program. A new method for measuring hoop strain of polymer tubes was created. A paper on this method has been accepted by ASME Solar Engineering Journal. The abstract of this paper is here.
