How important are correct cables and clean connectionsfor piezo-electric in-cylinder pressure transducers?

Very! The special cables have a very high impedanceinsulation.Clean connections (use freon cleaner) have a higherresistance to leakage also.

What time constant for piezo-electric in-cylinderpressure transducers?

Long is good unless the signal drifts off the screen.Medium is OK for almost all measurements.Short really distorts the signal -- as if you were using ahighpass filter or "AC" scope connection(very bad).If the signal drifts of screen with medium, eitherthe transduceror its connecting cables are probably bad.
