Shear Angle Model Exercise - Solution Procedure

The rake angle and coefficient of friction can be varied independently. Typical results are

The shear angle appears to be approximately linearly related to rake angle and to coefficient of friction.

With more of the same kind of results a reasonable deduction is that the form of the shear angle model is

ø = C1 + C2 ( alpha ) + C3 ( friction coefficient )
with constants C and account taken of the units of the terms,
i.e., the coefficient of friction will be expressed as a friction angle
