Barney E. Klamecki Professor of Mechanical Engineering University of Minnesota - Twin Cities I'm starting to re-do this site.

I've eliminated all the content that was on this personalized version of my university work-related site. Now, I want to not only bring it up-to-date, but also include enough detail of what I am actually doing so that it might be useful to others with similar interests. And, a real challenge for me - to keep it up to date.

The link to the computer-based exercises for the textbook "Materials and Processes in Manufacturing, " DeGarmo, Black and Kohser that were written by me is active. The underlying thought behind these is to present course content in a way that cannot be done in a typical paper textbooks.

My current research work has to do with

• magnetic treatment of manufactured parts and the effects of applied magnetic fields on tribological processes
• investigating the existence and usefulness of stochastic resonance in signal processing
• the design and development of smart seals for hydraulic and pneumatic systems
